ETHIOPIAN YIRGACHEFFE GRADE 2

Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, has over 1.1 million coffee farmers that make up the various cooperatives. Most of these are located in the south and west of the country. All cooperatives in Ethiopia belong to a Union which mills, grades, sells and exports the coffee.

The varieties are known as Heirloom, which is a mix of the native Typica hybrids and new varietals of old strains.

The Yirgacheffe region lies as an island in the middle of Sidama. It was recognized as a distinct region in the 1960’s and set apart for the exceptional flavors found in its washed coffees. Yirgacheffe coffees are known for their clean, floral and acidity-driven washed coffees and high quality sundried unique fruit and berry flavors.
